Dear United Airlines,
With all the pressure toward being a decent company today, it’s interesting to see you resisting peer pressure. Other companies occasionally try not to be terrible. You go your own way.
Congratulations.

Dear United Airlines,

Congratulations.
My brother’s golden retriever is a beautiful, friendly dog.
She smells like feet, rotting food, and maybe death.
We see a choice between the country and the candidate on both sides. Right or left, whomever accepts their candidate is bad for the country will lose, but they’re the side doing their best for the country.
What’s good in the world?
Overpowered sports cars, winning arguments, and walking in the rain.
I won the argument about the rain and walked home in it. I like the rain, though, so it’s all good.
Copyright of individual stories and characters expires at the earliest time, not latest. So Sherlock Holmes the character hit the public domain before all of the Sherlock Holmes stories did.
Tolkien’s work will start bubbling into the public domain as soon as 2031. Considering he wrote the material to form cultural legends for the English speakers of the world, that sounds like a good thing. Considering how bad some adaptions are, that sounds like a bad thing.
I’m waiting out the healing-crystal fad so I can go back to collecting cool rocks in peace.
Read somewhere that a big difference between musical acts that succeed and those that flourish are the former view their work as an art, the latter as a craft. Working on viewing the writing as a craft. Scenes require meaning, not just import. They’ve got to do something, not just inspire feelings.
Table stakes in this game isn’t finishing the book. It’s writing a book deliberately, with intention. That’s a heavy lift.
My muse visits me at 1:31 in the morning but only on digital alarm clocks with 7-segment displays.
I went up to Salmon Glacier. That is the hardest fantasy-style geography I’ve seen in the US. It was hard to walk around and NOT see ents, dwarves, and elven outposts.
Banff is as cool as they say it is.
Calgary has a lot of stoplights wherein it seems no one has a green. All lights I can see are red, both pedestrian lights visible show don’t-walk signs, and no one was moving through the intersection. This happens a lot.
